Holdem Acehigh — Where Every Hand Counts

Ace-high means your strongest card is an ace with no pair or better to support it. In a showdown, this hand wins only if every other player also holds no pair and your ace outranks their highest card.

The river is the fifth and final community card dealt face-up. It completes the board. After the river, all remaining players show their hands in the final showdown of that round.

Pot odds compare the current pot size to the cost of your next call. They help you decide whether completing a draw is mathematically worthwhile given how likely your hand is to improve.

A check-raise is when you first check your action to an opponent, let them bet, then raise their bet in the same round. It signals strength and is a common move to build the pot.

Hole cards are the two private cards dealt face-down to you at the start of each hand. Only you see them. You combine them with the five community cards to make your strongest five-card hand.

A kicker is the highest unpaired side card used to break a tie between two hands of the same rank. For example, two players with one pair of kings are split by whichever kicker card ranks higher.
